Selwyn Jacob

ACFOAj1jZBefore joining NFB Pacific and Yukon Centre as producer in 1997, Selwyn Jacob was an independent filmmaker whose body of work included two award-winning NFB releases, Carol’s Mirror and The Road Taken, winner of the Canada Award from the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television.

Selwyn has played a leading role in the NFB’s efforts to reach out to and develop emerging filmmakers throughout the Pacific region. His productions include the award-winning feature documentary Obaachan’s Garden, The Journey of Lesra Martin and the Reel Diversity Competition winner A Tribe of One.

Selwyn is also producer of the NFB production When Hockey Came to Belfast, about how Canada’s national game is giving hope to those far beyond our shores.

Selwyn was honoured with the John Ware Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award from the Black Achievement Awards Society of Alberta in 1997.
