Ricardo Scipio
Trinidadian-born, Ricardo Scipio grew up in Toronto. In 1987, he was working as a fashion photographer in Canada, the US and Hong Kong. Shortly thereafter he began making fine art nudes that celebrated black beauty, exhibiting in galleries across North America. By 1997, he made his first feature film When, a comedic portrayal of struggling actresses in New York, which starred Mackenzie Phillips. His second feature, Watershed, was the first independent North American feature to be shot in Digital H-D. After a brief hiatus from photography, he co-authored Illuminated Verses (Canadian Scholars’ Press), a collaborative, poetry/photography project with award-winning writer George Elliott Clarke.
Today, Ricardo resides in BC where he runs his herbal/homeopathic practice, NatroPractica. Currently, he is completing The Goddess Project, a second book of photography, and is developing Love/Sexy, a film about the porn industry.
Finder of Lost Children is his third feature film.
